According to The Republic | AZ Central “Overall, Department or Revenue staffing fell to 522 employees last fiscal year from 756 employees. The sales-tax auditing and collections staff, specifically, fell in that period to an average of 12 employees from about 32, according to the Auditor General report. "The department took a big hit with its staffing," said Jeremy Weber, the auditor who worked on the state's report. Meanwhile, the state's economy grew by about 16.7 percent — meaning more businesses, and more sales taxes.
